Coffee Morning

You are invited to come to Coffee Morning in St Laurence’s Church Hall on Saturdays from 10am to 11am.

It’s a great chance to chat with other people from church and the local community. People of all ages are welcome.

Cakes are homemade by a rota of volunteers and there is also tea and coffee. Money raised by the morning goes to St Laurence Cowley and other charities.

The Church Hall is on the corner of Cowley High Street and Iver Lane.

  1. Hello, St. Laurence Church! I love your website, and I have a favour to ask. On my blog I am publishing a sonnet in praise of all the people who serve on coffee rotas, do the flowers and so forth, in church. I would love to use this excellent photo to illustrate it, so mayI borrow it? If there is any problem about that, I will of course take it down. The whole post is about inclusivity so i think it will fit with your ethos! Heres the poem:

    A Last Beatitude

    And blessèd are the ones we overlook;
The faithful servers on the coffee rota,
The ones who hold no candle, bell or book
But keep the books and tally up the quota,
The gentle souls who come to ‘do the flowers’,
The quiet ones who organise the fete,
Church sitters who give up their weekday hours,
Doorkeepers who may open heaven’s gate.
God knows the depths that often go unspoken
Amongst the shy, the quiet, and the kind,
Or the slow healing of a heart long broken
Placing each flower so for a year’s mind.
Invisible on earth, without a voice,
In heaven their angels glory and rejoice.
