The Diocese of London has launched an appeal to support homelessness charities in the diocese. Money raised will go to 15 charities that work with churches to provide night shelters.
Bishop Pete (currently acting Bishop of London) said:
“We have huge ambitions for the campaign: ambitions which I know that parishes within the Diocese are well equipped to meet.
St Luke tells us that ‘Foxes have dens and birds have nests – but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.’ This year we want people to be reminded of all those who share our streets with London’s urban foxes. We want not only to consider the Christian response to homelessness, but also to think on the human cost of what it is like to be homeless and how we would cope with such an existence.
As the Christmas season is the traditional time to focus on homelessness, our appeal will run from 27 November through to the end of Lent this year.”
